About

I'm pursuing my lifelong interest in entomology after taking a not-so-brief detour through computer science (getting a CS degree from MIT and working as a software engineer for the past seven years).

I'm currently based in New York City, where I do most of my macro photograpy and collecting. Imaging and identifying the specimens in my personal collection is an ongoing project whose results can be viewed here.

My primary interest taxonomically is millipedes, especially the "flat-backs" of order Polydesmida, and I'm a very active identifier of them over on iNaturalist. Recently I've also been investigating some unusual millipede sightings in the greater NYC area.

On this site I'll post identification guides, descriptions of my photography equipment and techniques, and miscellaneous thoughts and resources.
